Chalet Buckingham is a peaceful getaway only a short drive from Ottawa. Perfect for a group, the spacious cottage has four bedrooms and can comfortably sleep up to 12 guests! If you are looking to get away with a large family, or group of friends but don’t want to drive far, you need to book a stay here. Located along the Ottawa River, Chalet Buckingham is just 5 minutes from the Quyon ferry. Enroute you can enjoy a beautiful drive past the Gatineau Hills to the private cottage with no viewable neighbours.
The waterfront cottage has a private dock, and a massive deck giving you plenty of space to relax outdoors. During my stay, I enjoyed having a cup of coffee and sitting in one of the Adirondack chairs right next to the water. If you are an animal lover like myself, while outside you’ll also see plenty of wild birds, and squirrels too.
Inside there are plenty of luxuries two huge TVs, a telescope, Google minis in many of the rooms, a massive soaker tub, and two incredible spa-like showers. One of my favourite spaces was a modern kitchen. It has a gas stove, a Keurig machine and all the kitchen essentials you will need like pots, pans, dishes, cutlery and glasses.
With up to 12 people, the group might want to divide up and do two different things. So not only are there two living rooms, but there are two fire pits and two decks as well.
When staying at a cottage, naturally you want to enjoy the view outdoors. I loved how at Chalet Buckingham you could enjoy the view of the water from the upstairs living room, deck, one of the two firepits and the dock. I essentially spent as much time as possible enjoying the view, as it was soothing. You’ll want to make sure to bring some supplies to make s’mores, as the fire pit at the cottage is too lovely not to use.
As I visited in the fall, I also enjoyed the fact there was a fireplace to help make the living room feel extra cozy. As the cottage is less than 15 minutes from Gatineau Park, it is also convenient to go for a hike. While staying at the cabin, I also visited some of the other nearby attractions like an adorable apple cidery and an alpaca farm.
The hosts of this vacation rental were amazing. You could tell they thoughtfully considered everything you might need. Not only were there small things like shampoo and soap but luxurious extras like bath bombs along with magazines and board games to enjoy.
I loved my stay at Chalet Buckingham and left feeling recharged and ready to take on the week. For more information about the cottage, or to book your stay visit their website.
