Using a pencil draw the outline of the numbers on cardstock and cut out the numbers using scissors.

Place a piece of the garland directly over the cut number and cut off a piece of garland that is the exact length needed to cover the number. Depending on the width of the number and the garland you may need to cut several rows to fill in the the entire number with tinsel.

Next place hot glue on all the edges of one of the numbers and place the cut tinsel pieces over the number. Repeat this process with all four numbers.

To complete the banner we cut a piece of ribbon and hot glued the ribbon to the back of the four numbers to complete our New Year’s Eve banner.

I’m gonna have to give this a try as I just picked up a few extra garlands on Boxing day when they were on clearance.

Sounds like a great idea, I used up some of my extra ones but I’ve also seen tons of garlands available at the dollar store too.
