DIY Shamrock Pinata
- 2-3 large sheet of cardboard
- Craft knife
- Package of green tissue or crepe paper
- Fringe scissors
- Packing tape
- Wrapped chocolates to put inside the pinata
- Glue stick
Start by drawing a large shamrock on a huge piece of cardboard. Using a picture off the internet as reference I freehand drew the shamrock outline on the cardboard. I then cut out my shamrock shape using a craft knife.
Once this is done stick the second large shamrock over the tapped edges and tape the sides and top and bottom pieces together using lots of packing tape. Make sure put in the candy or prizes before you fully close the shamrock with tape.
After the cardboard pinata shape is done it is time to cover the pinata with tissue paper. Begin by cutting long strips of tissue paper that are 2-3 inches wide and the entire length of the piece of tissue paper.
Using fringe scissors cut evenly spaced fringe detailing on the bottom of each strip of tissue paper.
Onto covering the entire pinata with tissue paper! To start I glued sheets of tissue paper all over the pinata to make sure that even if the fringe was to be raised you couldn’t see the cardboard underneath. Then starting from the bottom I applied glue to the top of a fringed strip of tissue paper and stuck it to the pinata.
Working my way up the pinata I continued covering all sides of the pinata until it was fully covered with fringe.
Pinata defeated! Bring on the gold chocolate and confetti inside.
