Often for Valentine’s day I bake sweets to give to friends and co-workers as a way to make them smile. To help affordably package my baked sweets I’m often looking for creative ways to wrap Valentine’s Day gift, and decided to share how I made this DIY wrapping paper and gift bag using a kitchen staple – wax paper.
- Red sheet of tissue paper or dried rose petals
- 2 sheets of wax paper
- Scissors (if using tissue paper)
DIY VALENTINE’S DAY WRAPPING INSTRUCTIONS
To begin take a sheet of red tissue paper and cut out small hearts, or take a red rose and pull apart the petals and allow them to dry.
Take the first sheet of wax paper with the wax side faced up and place the tissue paper hearts or rose papers evenly across the paper. Next place the second sheet of wax paper over top of the first sheet of wax paper with the wax side faced down.
Use an iron on a low setting and iron the wax paper which will glue to the two sheets of wax paper together. For best results start in the middle and slowly iron outwards pushing out the air bubbles as you go.
Note, when you ironing the wax paper will cause everything to look paler so this works best when you use brightly colored paper or flowers.
