Holmwood Suites Mont Tremblant by Hilton is located in Mont-Tremblant Village, which is part of the Laurentian Mountains northwest of Montréal. This famous ski town, located beside Lake Tremblant is a year-round tourist attraction popular for sporting events, hiking, canoeing, skiing, and snowboarding.
Ideally located within the Mont-Tremblant Village, everything from recreational activities, a casino, restaurants and stores are all within walking distance from the hotel.
Checking in to the hotel was quick and easy, and the front desk staff was all very helpful throughout my stay. Shortly after arriving in my room, I was surprised with a welcome note and 3 cupcakes was such a pleasant start to my trip, as who doesn’t like a surprise?
For my weekend at Mont Tremblant, I checked into one of the larger two bedroom suites that had 3 full beds, along with a pull out bed in the living room. I stayed in the master bedroom which overlooked Tremblant Village.
The room offered plenty of space and a comfortable bed. Though there were some problems with noise, as I had difficulty sleeping as I could hear people yelling outside late into the night. As such I would suggest having a room on the opposite side of the hotel not facing the main square to avoid the noise if you need silence to sleep.
The master bedroom featured an en-suite bathroom that could also be accessed from the living room, or partially divided by a pocket door if required.
Unfortunately, the toilet area smelled very bad and was unpleasant to enter the second half of the bathroom.
The second bedroom was similar to the master bedroom in terms of decor, just with a slightly larger room with two beds.
Connected to the second bedroom there was also another full bathroom, that was slightly smaller than the one in the master bedroom.
Additionally, the suite had a full kitchen would be useful if staying at Mont Tremblant for a longer period of time as there is a small grocery store within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The kitchen was equipped with a dishwasher, oven, microwave, fridge along with a few dishes and small appliances.
The suite also offered a full dining room, with seating for 6 people.
The living room offered plenty of space for a small group of people, and would be particularly nice in the winter as it had a wood burning fireplace that would be nice to relax next to after a day skiing.
The best part of the living room would have to be the small balcony that had two small chairs and a view of Mont Tremblant Village.
Standing on the balcony I had the perfect view of the festival and music concert that was taking place directly outside of my room.
After a long day hiking and taking part in various activities I was exhausted, and the hotel offers a great pool and long hot tub that offers privacy from the crowds. I was impressed by the generosity of the hotel, as upon checking out on Sunday I was only departing later that day, and Holmwood Suites offered me for free a key to continue using the pool area and parking until I was ready to leave later that day.
Just outside of the pool and hot tub area that can be accessed from the second floor of the hotel, there is also a dry sauna that you can relax in too.
Another one of my favorite things about this hotel would have to be the included breakfast. They won me over just by having several roasts of coffee available, leaving me delighted to have my dark roast coffee to start the day.
The included breakfast buffet was just what I needed to fuel myself up for a full day of physical activity. There was a good assortment of warm dishes such as eggs and bacon, bread you could toast, muffins, cereals, yogurt, and fresh fruit available to eat. Despite being a buffet, something I normally avoid as I find the warm dishes taste horrible from constantly being slowly heated for an extended period of time, here all the warm dishes were great.
The hotel offered the perfect location, a great breakfast, large rooms, and very friendly staff. That being said, ultimately I would not stay at this hotel again. Small details as the bedding or even bathroom curtains being very wrinkly, or dated decor I could overlook but the smelly bathroom and the non-soundproof rooms left me unpleased with the hotel. There are so many great features about this hotel, that I feel with a renovation to help with soundproofing and to update the old interior it could be fantastic.
