Valentine’s Day Wreath

heart wreath

In preparation for Valentine’s Day I decided to begin decorating my home with a few small accents, as I’m a huge romantic and love romantic holidays (and romantic books, movies, songs.. yep I’m THAT girl). So here you can see the gorgeous DIY Valentine’s Day wreath I made to go on my bedroom’s accent mirror.

MATERIALS

  • A piece of cardboard
  • 2 packages of red tissue paper
  • Scissors
  • Liquid glue

DIY VALENTINE’S DAY WREATH

To start I drew a large heart on the back of one my huge sketchbook back covers that happened to be cardboard, but you could just as easily use piece of a box or buy a sheet of cardboard. To draw the inner circle I measured and drew a smaller heart so that cut out heart would give 2 inches of cardboard all the way around. Additionally I cut the sheets of tissue paper into squares roughly 4 inches by 4 inches.

To give a softness to the heart wreath I folded each square into quarters and cut the square into a circle by rounding off the corners.Valentine's Day Wreath

The circle was gathered as done in my coffee filter chandelier so that only the bottom is glued while the rest of the paper is left fluttery.

Continue gluing pieces of tissue paper in the same fashion covering up all the cardboard on the top of the heart.

When completed the heart wreath looks like it is covered with rose petals and is ever so cute. To hang it you can either create tape bubbles and stick it directly on the wall, or use a small piece of twine as I did and hang it from my mirror.

Curious where I got my mirror, read where to get it here.
